Christmas Quilt Along - Still Going

I wanted to get the borders onto this quilt, so I've cracked on today, and I have to say I'm very pleased with how it's coming along. I love working with these brushed cotton fabrics, they're so friendly and well behaved :o). The second picture (taken in the conservatory) gives a better idea of the colours of the fabrics, they look very washed out against the green carpet in the lounge, but the shadows were a bit strong in the conservatory to give a good image. Now it just needs sandwiching, quilting and binding. The hardest part is going to be deciding on the quilting pattern, I'm thinking stars and swirls, but I'm open to suggestions.

  1. Looks fantastic, like how you have mitred the corners on the border.

If it were my quilt (and sadly, it's not!) I would quilt lots of curves and swirls to contrast with the straight lines of the piecing, maybe freehand feathers, and how about SID and continuous curve on each of the stars to help them stand out?

  2. It is beautiful. I am totally in awe of your mitres, try as I might, when I do them I probably get 3 right and one "almost". For the quilting I thought that echoing the star shape inside the stars and then connect them with something loopy.

  3. Good suggestions both, but I'm thinking of an all-over pantograph type design. I was looking for some stars and loops that I knew I'd seen somewhere - guess where I found it? It was one of the designs we lifted off of Bilbo when we were all together for the Harlow Carr weekend. Serendipity :o).
